Newport Beach is Ranked as #1 Wealthiest City in the U.S.
Located approximately 40 miles south of Los Angeles and 90 miles north of San Diego, Newport Beach is known for many things: its beautiful beaches; amazing homes; islands; piers; jetties; its large collection of private yachts and boats. It is also known for its celebrities ranging from Tiger Woods to John Wayne, Shirley Temple, Gwen Stefani and Nicolas Cage.
And, now Newport Beach, with a population of nearly 90,000, has been named the top wealth center in the United States by Portfolio.com out of 420 regions with populations over 75,000.

The report measured things like household income and median home prices. The per capita income for Newport Beach is $86,586, which is triple the national average. Nearly one-third of the households in Newport Beach make over $200,000, and the median home price is over $1 million. All of these factors combine to make Newport Beach the wealthiest city in the United States.

I have been to Newport Beach usually on my way to San Diego and I am not surprised to see that it is ranked as the wealthiest city. You are very lucky to be working there. I am sure they are not concerned about the economy.
Christine....it's been my experience that wealthy people don't stay wealthy if they are not concerned about the economy. I'm sure you have some very savvy clients....and that's a good thing!
Wow...of all the places that had to be in the running for this fact that is a very interesting fact! Like Kirsten said above, it's probably a pretty financially savvy community too!

We just saw the rankings and Williamson County ranked #17 wealthiest in the U.S.
David - People here are definitely concerned about the economy and paying attention. They are probably more aware than others in many ways as many are very financially savvy.
Kirsten - You're right. They do worry about the economy.
Russell - It is interesting. What was even more of a coincidence is that my husband comes from an area not far from the very opposite end of the list. It makes for a very interesting comparison.
Connie - It sounds like you probably have a great place to be as well.
