Balboa Peninsula, also known as the Newport Peninsula or simply the "Peninsula",

Balboa Peninsula

is a three mile stretch of land that encompasses some of the most expensive homes in the world as well as "The Wedge", a world famous body surfing spot, located at the jetty at the end of the Balboa Peninsula and a great deal of commercial areas as well.

The Peninsula has two piers, the Newport Pier and the Balboa Pier as well as the Fun Zone which is like a miniature Coney Island located right on the Bay. In addition, there is the boardwalk for strolling, biking or roller blading along the beach and another along the Bay.

Balboa Pavilion

At the Fun Zone, you can play in the arcade, ride the ferris wheel, see the Victorian style Balboa Pavilion which is over a century old, rent a boat and take a ride through the Bay, and then satisfy your sweet tooth with a Balboa Bar (an ice cream bar coated in chocolate and then dipped in your choice of peanuts or sprinkles).

There are numerous restaurants along the Peninsula, from the very casual to the very elegant.  There is also a great deal of shopping, with many small boutiques hidden all along the Peninsula.

The summer brings many visitors and tourists to the Peninsula, making it a little more difficult to access the homes as the far end of the Peninsula as there is limited access to the Peninsula either by Balboa and Newport Boulevard or via Balboa Island and the Ferry.

The Balboa Peninsula is home to numerous types of properties ranging from small apartment units, to condos to single family homes on the ocean, on the Newport Bay, and even at the edge of the peninsula near the jetty at Peninsula Point.

Currently Balboa Peninsula homes are running between just under $700,000 for a condo, to nearly $15,000,000 for a 8,400 square foot ocean front Balboa Peninsula home.

Children on the Balboa Peninsula attend schools in the Newport Mesa Unified School District. They are:

Newport Elementary

Horace Ensign Middle School

Newport Harbor High School
