Costa Mesa Parks - Fairview Park

Costa Mesa Parks - Fairview Park

Fairview Park is located on Placentia Avenue next to Estancia High School and is near the end of the Santa Ana River Trail. Fairview Park     Aside from being a great place to just bike, this park offers many incredible amenities. It has room up top for kids to run and fly kites, kick soccer balls, and generally have a great time. In the summer Fairview Park hosts Costa Mesa's Free Concerts.  In addition, there is an area to fly remote controlled airplanes.  There are also hills that frequently have children and adults alike enjoying mountain biking and jumping.  With 208 acres, there is lot of space in Fairview park for everything from walking your dog, to flying your RC plane, to riding model trains, to just getting out and expending some energy and enjoying a beautiful day.  In addition to the activities we enjoy today activites, the park was once home to The Indians of Lukup. Fairview Park has both an upper and lower mesa and can be used to access the Talbert Nature Preserve and the Santa Ana River Trail. Over the last couple of years, there have been improvements made to Fairview Park via Fairview Park Wetlands and Riparian Habitat Project.  These include the restoration of approximately 17 acres of riparian habitat. Once completed, the project will include new trails from which we can enjoy the natural habitats. What's your favorite thing about Fairview Park?  Please let me know in the comments below.

Fairview Park Costa Mesa

It's amazing to me the colors that nature can provide some days.  I just had to pull over and take a few photos so that I could share them.

This photo was taken at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.  It is completely unretouched and was taken on my phone.

Buying a Costa Mesa Home? - Avoid Buying Obsolescence

Buying a Costa Mesa Home? - Avoid Buying Obsolescence

So, you've decided it's time to buy a Costa Mesa home, and you're thinking about what you really need.

Perhaps you've been pre-approved or you know about how much you want to pay monthly, and so you've come up with a purchase price.

Now, you're trying to decide what's important to you.  I always sit down when people are considering buying a Costa Mesa home to ask several questions.

It's important to consider what's important to you in buying a Costa Mesa home, and it's also important to try not to buy obsolescence.

And, you're probably wondering what "buying obsolescence" means.

For instance, most buyers these days expect want demand at least 1.5 baths in a home, so if you're thinking that you could "live" with just one bathroom, you might consider what that might do to your pool of buyers when you're ready to sell your Costa Mesa home.

When you're buying a Costa Mesa home, make sure to consider how other buyers might look at it later when you're ready to sell it so that you don't have problems selling an obsolete home.

If you want to work with an agent who takes the time to consider things like future value and saleability of your Costa Mesa home, please give me a call at 714-319-9751.

Costa Mesa Real Estate - Eastside Costa Mesa Homes

Eastside Costa Mesa is a charming area of Costa Mesa which borders Newport Beach, and, as a result, tends to have higher property values than some other areas of the city. It is bounded by Irvine Boulevard on the east, Newport Boulevard on the west, 15th Street on the south and Mesa Drive on the north.

Most of the original lots in Eastside Costa Mesa are around 10,000 square feet, a large size lot in Orange County, which allows for space to expand smaller, older homes if desired.

Eastside Costa Mesa is known for wide streets and lovely, mature trees, homes with picket fences and an eclectic mix of different types of homes.

Costa Mesa Real Estate News - Costa Mesa Market Report 1-7-12

Costa Mesa Real Estate News - Costa Mesa Market Report

Originally no more than a way station built by Spanish missionaries, Costa Mesa's first real estate development occurred in the 1880s. This failed to prosper, but Costa Mesa has thrived.

Long time residents may remember when the area was called Fairview and Paularino, but today, the city is a focal point in Orange County with the Orange County Performing Arts Center, South Coast Repertory Theatre and South Coast Plaza as major drawing points. It is hard to believe that Costa Mesa was once nicknamed "Goat Hill" because of its rural flavor.

The modern day Costa Mesa real estate market began as beach bungalows just minutes from the ocean. Even then, Costa Mesa, bordering Newport Beach, captured the best of Newport Beach living at a fraction of the cost. While Costa Mesa may be more affordable than comparable homes in Newport Beach or Corona Del Mar, this is a relative matter as all of Orange County real estate is perceived to be some of the most desirable in the United States.

The market report for Costa Mesa is below:

 Costa Mesa Homes

 Costa Mesa Homes Absorption Rate

Costa Mesa is currently in a seller's market with just over 3 months of inventory on the market.  This suggests that homes are selling fairly quickly, especially those that are priced well.

Costa Mesa Christmas Tree Recycling

Costa Mesa Christmas Tree Recycling

This year Costa Mesa Christmas tree recycling will occur between December 26, 2o11 and January 13, 2012.

Trees that are taller than 6 feet in height need to be cut in half. All decorations, tinsel and stands must be removed, and the Christmas tree should be placed at the curb for collection.

If your trash is collected by Waste Management, trees should be placed on the curb. If it's collected by the Costa Mesa Sanitation Department, the tree should be placed next to your trash containers.

Blog It, Video It, They Will Come - Snoopy House on TV

Blog It, Video It, They Will Come - Snoopy House on TV

Monday, as I was stepping out to an appointment, I received a call from NBC News asking for DonovanBlatt.

I asked how I could help.  She told me that they were doing a story on the Snoopy House being moved to the Costa Mesa City Hall and wanted to know if they could use videotape that I had done on Snoopy House a few years ago.

This was poor quality video on a little camera that also did video, but they wanted to show it as it had been before the Bank Foreclosed on Snoopy.

I of course said, "Yes" and on tv that night there was my video with a credit back to me.  Too bad they didn't do the same on the video on their website, but still it proves that people will notice and pay attention.

I need to do more video, and this just reinforces that fact.

This is currently a big story because Snoopy has fallen victim to the economy.  Last month, Wachovia/Wells Fargo foreclosed on Snoopy, and it has been in the news ever since.

For more about Snoopy House please see:
