103rd Newport Beach Boat Parade - 12-14-11 to 12-18-11

  The 2011 Newport Beach Boat Parade will run from 12/14/11 to 12/18/11. This fantastic holiday spectacle has been part of my holiday for as long as I can remember.

Newport Beach Boat Parade

The parade starts just off Bay Island at 6:30 each night and finishes in the same spot at about 9:00 pm. The parade is about 14 miles long. Click the link to see the Newport Beach Boat Parade Route.

Every year numerous boats are decorated with lights and blow up figures and play music as those aboard wave to the crowds who watch.

In addition to the boats themselves, another holiday event to enjoy in the Newport Harbor is the Ring of Lights. Many of the bayside homes and businesses also get in the spirit by decorating for the holiday season with lights and decorations. This makes a spin around the harbor well worth your time.

Again this year there will be fireworks on 12/18/11 for the last day of this year's Newport Beach boat parade. The fireworks will be launched from the Balboa pier and should be visible all around the harbor.

Even with our rainy weather, according to the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade site, the parade will run rain or shine.

And, it's only running for a few days from December 15 to December 19.  So, if you want to get out and see the amazing display of boats and lights that makes up the Newport Beach Boat Parade, makes sure to get out there this weekend.

Newport Beach Boat Parade 2009

Newport Beach Boat Parade 2009

 

It's time to get ready for the holidays, and one of my favorite traditions is the Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade. 

Like so many other years, we will bundle up, and take a short trek out to the Bay to watch this wonderful holiday custom while drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the amazing place I call home.

Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade

The parade includes everything from huge decorated multi-million dollar yachts to small kayaks and canoes with music and people celebrating the holidays both onboard the boats and lining the shores.

The 101st Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade runs from December 16th to December 20th, 2009.

You don't want to miss the Newport Beach Boat Parade. It's been called "one of the top 10 holiday happenings" in the country by the New York Times.

100th Annual Newport Beach Boat Parade - Updated

Most of us think of Sunny Southern California when we consider the weather here in Newport Beach, but yesterday Mother Nature threw a storm at us that effected the first night of the Newport Beach Boat Parade.

Due to potential unstable weather conditions and strong winds, the first night of the 100th Annual Newport Beach Boat Parade was canceled last night.

If permits can be obtained from the City and permssion from Ruby's, which has to shut down for a few hours, is given, then the hope is that the fireworks will be rescheduled for Sunday evening.

If we obtain updated information, we will pass it along.

In the meantime, we're going to head out to the boat parade tonight to enjoy it as part of our family's Christmas tradition.

100th Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade

This year, Newport Beach celebrates its 100th Annual Christmas Boat Parade from Wednesday, December 17, 2008 through Sunday December 21, 2008. 

Although the parade has a new starting point this year, just off Bay Island, it will follow the same route and will start at 6:30 pm and end around 9:00 pm.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary, there will fireworks off the Balboa Pier at 6:25 pm Wednesday night just before the start of the parade.

This dazzling parade of lights features everything from multi million dollar yachts to kayaks all decorated for the holidays and participating in this local holiday event.

The Newport Beach boat parade is so much a part of our holiday that I don't think I can remember a year when I didn't attend even last year, when I was nine months pregnant.

This year we'll watch the parade on Dylan's first birthday.

The parade is so well renowned that the New York Time has called it "one of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation."  So, why not come out and enjoy the 100th anniversary of this wonderful holiday tradition?
