Do You Get Your News from the Traditional News Media or from Social Media?

We all know that the internet has changed our world for better or for worse, and some days I am struck by just what those changes are.

I don't usually watch the news on tv nor do I read the newspaper.  My news sources are generally online and occasionally the radio, but I am starting to realize that I get more and more of my information through my social networking.

We had a tragic accident in Newport Beach a few weeks ago when a huge tree fell and fatally injured a young woman.  When the city of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa decided to remove all of the large trees to prevent any additional injuries, my first pictures were on Facebook.

When a plane landed in the Hudson, later dubbed Miracle on the Hudson, the first news of it came by Twitter.

A few days ago, I learned of Steve Jobs' death here on Active Rain.

I've started to realize that much of my news comes to me through my social networking.

How about you?  What is your best news source?
