Do You Indulge the Exhuberance of Your Child?
Today, I needed to run an errand and pick up a book at the mall, so off we went.
When we first went in, my son said, "Mommy, can we ride the moving stairs?" My first thought, was I just want to grab the book and go, but that face was looking up at me with complete hope and twinkling with the delight of the next adventure in life.
"I guess we can ride the escalator." So, up we went, and then down again with him smiling and giggling the whole way.
"Mommy, Can we ride the moving stairs again?" We don't have to be anywhere anytime soon, so why not?
Then we passed a glass elevator. "Mommy, can we ride the elevator." So, up and down we went. Then the carousel, then the escalator on the other side of the store, and finally on the way back, a stop in the Mac Store and then up and down the elevator again.
As we went from one "ride" to another, and I began to let the "busyness" of life go, I realized I was having just as much fun as he was.
The total cost of this glorious adventure? $1 for the carousel. To my son, it was like a credit card commercial - PRICELESS!
He thinks we had the best day ever, and I got to enjoy the total joy he experienced in the things I consider the little things in life.
My questions to you:
- Do you take the time to smell the roses?
- The time to enjoy your child's smile?
- The chance to hold that special person's hand?
I know we're busy, but is life worth living if we simply run from one appointment or have to do to the next.
If you haven't taken the time to do it yet today:
- hug your little one
- tell your special someone that you love him/her
- slow down and see the beauty around you
Work is important, but so is enjoying your life and those in it.
And, yes, I am the same one who told you the other day that prospecting is important, but we need to remember why we work and who we do it for.
