How Do You Keep Family Close When Family Lives on Both Coasts?

These last several days we have been visiting Pennsylvania for my brother-in-law's wedding.

 tim & katie

My 10 month old son, Dylan, is meeting family who have never seen him before,

katie & dylan

 3 generations

and my five year old, David, is renewing relationships with family he hasn't seen in a year and a half.

David is happily running off with Grammy and Pop Pop and playing with his cousins.  Tomorrow, he's looking forward to 4-wheeling on the farm.  We don't have a farm at home.  Who has acreage in Southern California

Tonight, Dylan chose to go with his Pop Pop rather than sit in my lap.

They spend time every week with my parents who live minutes away and are both very close to them.  But, they are lucky to see my husband's parents once a year, and it's obvious that both boys really enjoy their time with their grandparents.

What can you do when my husband's family is East Coast and my family is in California?  I guess we will all be seeing more travel from coast to coast.

What do you do to keep in touch with far flung family?

P.S. Tomorrow I take my first trip to the Big Apple,  Stay tuned . . .
