Tonight we celebrated my great uncle Paul's 92nd birthday, and as always, a family party was a great way to enjoy an evening.
Paul is the youngest of the three brothers and the last one with us. The last few years his granddaughter, Kelly, has been throwing wonderful birthday parties that gives the extended family a great reason to get together.
Tonight it was a Roaring 20's theme with a casino night. Many of the attendees went all out and came fully decked out for the evening.

It was wonderful to see so much of the family.
Best of all, my three cousins were there with their wives and one son. It brought back a lot of memories of all the time we three girls spent with the three of them growing up in Newport Beach, in and out of the grandparents' beach house.

We don't see each other as much as we used to with most of us married, many with kids and some living in different states.
We played catch up, with one just moved back from Texas introducing himself to my son who didn't remember the last time he'd seen him several years ago.
Even with all of the technology, social media, and other ways to keep in contact, nothing beats face to face time with the family to catch up and renew old ties.
When was the last time you had a chance to catch up with your extended family?
