My Home is a Place of Memories and Love

My Home is a Place of Memories and Love

What is a home?  Is it four walls? Four bedrooms? A backyard with a pool? A designer interior? Is is the people who live there with you?

The funny thing about being a Realtor is that I see many home that are bigger, prettier, neater, better decorated than mine. Some days I dream about what it would be like to live in some of these huge, gorgeous homes  Still, somehow they are not home to me.

Why not?  What are they lacking?

First Birthday

When I look around my home, I see my son taking his first step, toddling on unsteady feet towards us. I relive the day I brought each of my children home for the hospital.  I smell the flowers from my wedding, all of which my mother had brought home from our wedding as I forgot to give her instructions on what to do with them. I remember bringing our puppy home and watching the boys delightedly Family playing with him and rolling around on the floor together. I see so many holidays, birthdays, so much love.  Time with friends, with families, bridal showers and more.

Somehow, it's not just the biggies, it's all the little moments that make up a lifetime of memories and love that is so much a part of our home.  It's reading to the kids, and having them learn to read to me.  It's sitting next to my husband in front of the fire and talking about the day. It's family dinners and discussing the day around the table.

Though I have a bathroom that would make most bed and breakfasts jealous, and a backyard that is ridiculously small, it is none of these that truly makes my house a home.  It is the love and the memories that are so much a part of it that are truly what I love about my home, and what is amazing is that these will come with me even in a new home.
