Sometimes I realize how lucky I am to live where I do, and others I simply forget as this has been home for most of my life.

Today is Christmas, and I took a ride to the beach in 70+ degree weather.  Not only was the weather great; the scenery is beautiful, and I wanted to share a little of what my family and I enjoy each day.

The iPad2, DS, Wii . . these may be the fancy electronics all the kids wanted this year, but I'm here to tell you with just a little imagination and some cardboard, kids are ready to launch themselves in to space.

 

Though this rocket may take up a huge piece of real estate, it is something the kids have been playing with on an off all day.  It's great for their imagination and artistry as it allows them to color the entire rocket eventually

Blog It, Video It, They Will Come - Snoopy House on TV

 

Monday, as I was stepping out to an appointment, I received a call from NBC News asking for DonovanBlatt.

I asked how I could help.  She told me that they were doing a story on the Snoopy House being moved to the Costa Mesa City Hall and wanted to know if they could use videotape that I had done on Snoopy House a few years ago.

This was poor quality video on a little camera that also did video, but they wanted to show it as it had been before the Bank Foreclosed on Snoopy.

I of course said, "Yes" and on tv that night there was my video with a credit back to me.  Too bad they didn't do the same on the video on their website, but still it proves that people will notice and pay attention. 

I need to do more video, and this just reinforces that fact.

This is currently a big story because Snoopy has fallen victim to the economy.  Last month, Wachovia/Wells Fargo foreclosed on Snoopy, and it has been in the news ever since.

103rd Newport Beach Boat Parade - 12-14-11 to 12-18-11

  The 2011 Newport Beach Boat Parade will run from 12/14/11 to 12/18/11. This fantastic holiday spectacle has been part of my holiday for as long as I can remember.

Newport Beach Boat Parade

The parade starts just off Bay Island at 6:30 each night and finishes in the same spot at about 9:00 pm. The parade is about 14 miles long. Click the link to see the Newport Beach Boat Parade Route.

Every year numerous boats are decorated with lights and blow up figures and play music as those aboard wave to the crowds who watch.

In addition to the boats themselves, another holiday event to enjoy in the Newport Harbor is the Ring of Lights. Many of the bayside homes and businesses also get in the spirit by decorating for the holiday season with lights and decorations. This makes a spin around the harbor well worth your time.

Again this year there will be fireworks on 12/18/11 for the last day of this year's Newport Beach boat parade. The fireworks will be launched from the Balboa pier and should be visible all around the harbor.

Last month the foreclosure crisis took a famous victim, Snoopy. Apparently, even Snoopy isn't immune to foreclosure which Wells Fargo proved when it foreclosed on Costa Mesa's famous Snoopy House.

For nearly 45 years, Jim Jordan has created a Christmas miracle in his front yard and delighted children of all ages with his Snoopy house display which he began when he was only 14 years old, but this year, it looks like Snoopy won't be there nor will the rest of the Peanuts' Gang.

This year, the 80,000 who make their annual trek to the Snoopy House to visit with Snoop and the Gang and take pictures with Santa are doomed to disappointment.

For decades I have enjoyed Snoopy house, and just a week ago   my son asked when we would be going over to visit it. Not this year son.

This is particularly frustrating to me as there was equity in this home, and this didn't have to happen this way. Bad advice and lack of knowledged combined made bad situation worse. I've seen so many people in foreclosure and helped so many, but Snoopy fell victim and many will stand wondering how could it have happened to him while 80,000 "kids" will be disappointed.

RIP Clint Miller

There have been questions in the past days about whether or not there can be friendships/relationships formed through social media.  I believe Clint answered that question with a resounding yes.
